The VisionPerry Arts Department
Supports VisionPerry economic development efforts through the design and creation of the Linden Arts & Historic District (public art, window museum displays, and historic survey of buildings downtown). The district, once established, will help brand the community as an arts destination, ultimately supporting tourism and business recruitment efforts.
Strives to help staff members be more articulate, creative thinkers through technical art training and collaborative design processes, the result of which is public art. Painted murals, clay sculpture, tile mosaic, and other art forms are being cultivated through the interaction between established and emerging artists who act as mentor/facilitators to an intern-staff of twenty people age 14-24. Here, the intention of the program is to develop workers who are competitive in our nation’s growing creative economy.
Endeavors toward long-term self-sufficiency through funding research and the creation of a strategic plan. The plan includes arts program development and a cultural assessment implemented in partnership with the Perry County Arts Committee. Our department research team is working on an inventory of available studio/storefront spaces, an artist/retail recruitment plan, and funding for the longevity of the arts program.
